MelodyLane help & frequently asked questions

Answers about MelodyLane smart links, pre-saves, fan capture, handles, custom domains, insights, pricing and billing.

Getting started

What is MelodyLane and who is it for?

MelodyLane gives artists one shareable page for every release. Fans open it and pick the service they already use, join your fan club, pre-save the next drop or follow you — all from a single address. It's built for independent artists, bands, producers and podcasters. #

Do I need a distributor or a label?

No. If your music is already public anywhere, paste that link and we fill in the title, artwork and every other service we can find. You can also add destinations by hand. #

How do I create my first page?

Sign up free, open Smart Links, choose New Smart Link, paste a link or pick a starting point, then publish. Most first pages take under five minutes. #

Can I try it without paying?

Yes. The Free forever plan is unlimited for smart links and pages on your MelodyLane handle. Pro is optional. #

Pre-saves and release day

How do pre-saves work?

You publish a pre-save page before the music is out. Fans sign up, and the page shows a countdown to the release moment. #

What happens automatically on release day?

When the release date and time arrive, the page switches itself into a live smart link with your listening buttons. You don't have to be online. #

Can I schedule a page before the music is out?

Yes. Set the release date when you create the campaign and share the address straight away. #

What happens to my pre-save page at midnight on release day?

At the release date and time you set, the countdown ends and the page turns into a live smart link with your streaming buttons. The address stays the same, so posts you've already shared keep working. If a service hasn't published the release yet, its button appears once you paste its link. #

Fans and email

How does fan email capture work?

A Fan Club row on your page invites listeners to leave an email. It's a Pro feature and it appears at the moment fans care most — right after they've clicked through to listen. #

Where does my fan list live and can I export it?

Every campaign has a Fans view in your dashboard with the full list and a CSV export, so the audience is yours to keep. #

Can I automatically send fan signups to Mailchimp or Klaviyo?

Yes, with Studio or Lifetime. Create a webhook in Zapier or Make, save its HTTPS address under Dashboard → Settings → Fan webhook, then connect your email tool and map the email field. Set it up once per artist: new signups from their current and future Smart Links include the artist, release and consent details. Send a test fan to check your setup. This is webhook compatibility, not a native Zapier app or one-click Mailchimp connection; Zapier or Make may require a paid plan. Existing contacts are not automatically imported, and you must manage unsubscribes in your email tool. Find the full setup in Help & Guides under “How to automatically sync fan signups with Mailchimp, Klaviyo and Zapier.” #

Do fans get an unsubscribe option?

Yes. Every fan can unsubscribe from a link on the confirmation, and opt-outs are recorded on the list. #

Is this GDPR-friendly?

Sign-ups require explicit consent, unsubscribes are honoured, and you can delete any fan record. See the Privacy Policy for the full detail. #

Do you sell my data or my fans' email addresses to third parties?

No — never. MelodyLane does not sell, rent or trade your account details, your analytics or your fan email list. A list belongs to the artist who collected it, and we don't pass information to data brokers, ad networks or data exchanges. Our revenue comes from subscription plans, not from your data. #

Do you use my data to train AI or sell it to AI companies?

MelodyLane will never use your data or your fans' data to train AI models, and will never sell it to AI companies to train their models. This includes account information, uploaded content, campaign data, analytics, fan lists and text submitted to our AI tools. Optional AI tools process only the text you choose to submit to provide a response; processing is different from model training. See the Privacy Policy for details and third-party service disclosures. #

Handles, domains and short links

What is a handle and can I change it?

Your handle is the free part of your address, like melodylane.io/yourname/your-song. Change it any time under Settings (Your Handle) — older addresses automatically redirect to your new handle, so links you've already posted keep working (unless another artist later claims your old handle). #

How do I connect my own domain?

Custom domains are a Pro feature. On the Custom domain page, enter your domain, add the two DNS records we show you at your domain provider, then press Check status. Read the step-by-step guide 'How To Connect Your Custom Domain' at melodylane.io/custom-domain-guide — it has instructions for GoDaddy, Namecheap, Squarespace, Cloudflare and Wix. #

How long does domain verification take?

Usually minutes, but DNS changes can take up to 24 hours to spread. Press Check status again after a while — nothing breaks in the meantime. #

My custom domain says Pending or DNS Error. What do I do?

Pending usually means the DNS records haven't spread yet — wait up to 24 hours and press Check status again. DNS Error usually means a record is missing, mistyped, or an older record (another A, AAAA or CNAME on the same host) is conflicting. Remove the old records, re-copy both values exactly, and check again. The Custom domain guide has screenshots for each provider. #

Insights

How often are insights updated? Do I have to wait 24 hours?

Never. MelodyLane insights are always live and real-time. Every page view, service tap and fan sign-up shows up in your dashboard and private Owner insights the moment it happens — no overnight or 24-hour delay. Just refresh to see the latest numbers. #

What do you track?

Page views, taps on each destination, pre-saves, unlocks and fan sign-ups. We don't collect names, precise locations or anything that identifies an individual fan beyond an email they chose to give you. #

Why don't my numbers match Spotify?

We count taps that leave your page. Streaming services count plays, and not everyone who taps presses play — so the numbers are related but never identical. #

What's the difference between free and Pro insights?

Free forever shows your pages are live and working. Pro adds the click and sign-up breakdowns per destination, plus fan email capture. #

What are Master Pixels and how do they apply?

Pro and Lifetime members can save Meta, TikTok, Google Analytics and Google Ads IDs once per artist under Settings. Every new and existing link for that artist uses them automatically, and you can override them on a single link in Step 3 of the builder. Pixels only fire after a fan accepts cookies. #

Plans and billing

What's the difference between free and Pro?

Free forever covers unlimited smart links, your handle address, the song preview and the share kit. Every new signup automatically gets 7 days of the Studio plan free — no credit or debit card required. After that, Pro adds fan email capture, live real-time click and sign-up insights (no 24-hour wait) and a custom domain. Studio adds a second artist profile, private Owner Insights, the Weekly Insights email, priority support and the Studio tools. #

How much is Pro?

$8.00 a month, or $62.00 a year — the yearly option saves 35%. Studio is $20 a month or $150 a year and adds advanced tools like YouTube Video Hero, direct app opening, merch cards, fan webhooks and A/B tests. Lifetime is on sale for $350 once against a $550 reference price (save $200), and includes everything in Pro and Studio for life, including new features as they launch. #

Can I switch between monthly and yearly?

Yes. Open Plan & billing and choose the other cycle; the change is handled through the billing portal. #

Which payment methods do you accept, and can I get a receipt?

Payments run through Stripe, which accepts major cards and local methods where available. Every payment emails a receipt, and past invoices are in the billing portal. #

Account and troubleshooting

How do I reset my password?

Choose Forgot password on the sign-in page and we'll email you a reset link. #

Can I manage more than one artist?

Yes. Add each act under Artists and every campaign is filed under the right name. #

A button sends fans to the wrong place.

Open the campaign, find the destination in the list and paste the correct address. The fix is live as soon as you save. #

How do I delete my account and data?

Write to us from the Contact page and we'll remove your account, pages and fan data. Deletion is permanent. #

Who can see the data behind my account and pages?

Only you and the team members you invite. We don't sell or share your account details, analytics or fan lists with third parties — the Privacy Policy lists the few providers that help us run the service. #

Still stuck?

Send us the details and a real person answers. Pro members get priority.
